For South African youth, the pandemic has altered many career paths such as training opportunities, work-based learning opportunities, and internships, offered to the youth.
As the country’s socio-economic landscape continues to change, youth employment and skill development are more important than ever. According to Stats SA, the South African unemployment rate increased by 0.4 of a percentage point to 35.3% in Q4:2021 compared to Q3:2021.
Our Learning and Talent expert, Tove Sithole, says “The iTOO Graduate and Learnership programme is an initiative that aims to address youth unemployment in today’s tough socio-economic conditions. Learnerships and Graduate Programmes play a pivotal role in helping businesses develop critical skills and knowledge necessary to thrive while changing the trajectory of youth unemployment.
In the past year, we have increased our efforts to bridge the skills gap in the insurance industry. The success of our 2021/22 Graduate and Learnership programmes encouraged us to grow our grad and learner intake in 2022.
As experts, we believe in the transformative power of education.
