This event is a significant platform for contemporary African art and its diaspora, offering a unique art experience within the historic terraced gardens and architecture of Shepstone Gardens. The fair’s theme for 2026 is “Oasis,” reflecting on the improbability of creative flourishing in unlikely places, marking 140 years of Johannesburg, a city founded without access to a major body of water.

The fair will feature a diverse range of galleries and independent artists from across Africa, with a focus on Nigeria for the 2026 edition. The event will also include a curated exhibition in Lagos, bringing together some of Nigeria’s most exciting contemporary art and cultural practice before traveling to South Africa.
